For Immediate Release:
A Tennessee voter has taken a different approach to getting "None of the Above" on the ballot.
David "None of the Above" Gatchell is attempting to put his name on the ballot as a candidate, promising to resign if elected, once a by-election is held to replace him, as he explains on his web site www.noneoftheabove-tn.org.
Since Voters for None of the Above is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to enacting Voter Consent laws giving voters a "None of the Above" ballot option, we take no position on any other issue; we neither endorse nor oppose any candidacy or party. We do advocate that voters use a standard NOTA write-in when they do not wish to vote for any candidate for an office.
Voters for None of the Above supports Mr. Gatchell's efforts to bring to voters' attention the advantages of having a Voter Consent law establishing a "None of the Above" ballot option. In addition, we would like to compliment him on his imaginative approach to overcoming the manifest difficulties providing voters with this fair and sensible ballot option. Whatever the outcome of his candidacy, he has done all voters a great service by advancing public awareness of how our elections can be made more democratic by passing Voter Consent laws giving voters a "None of the Above" ballot option.
